What better way to separate yourself from the crowd than by designing a wireless speaker system that runs Android apps via an LCD built-in touchscreen. Amidst the many speaker systems already on the market, the desperate calls of those craving something new appear to have, at last, been answered.

The system runs Android KitKat 4.4 and users will have access to lots of the popular apps whether it’s music, video or gaming. The innovative design means Netflix users can watch their favourite shows on a high quality wireless speaker system, as if there weren’t enough ways to watch TV shows right now.

The brand new system, known for now as ‘Vizio’s Portable Smart Audio device’, comes in two variations. If you want something a little smaller then you may opt for the more compact size available, which features a 4.7” screen. For those that want to hark back to the good old days of the boom box era, there is a larger model with a 7” screen and a built-in carrying handle.

Both speakers are powered by a quad-core processor and feature built-in Wi-Fi allowing users to stream directly from the web. There’s also a Bluetooth option if you want to use your mobile device.

Both models offer an integral lithium-ion rechargeable battery for true portability and have received positive reviews this week as they were announced at CES 2014 in Vegas.

It remains to be seen just how successful these standalone devices will be on the market, but the fact that Vizio is thinking outside the box speaks volumes as to the future of all portable audio system design.
