Stitcher has rolled out its latest Android update, adding offline listening to its library of over 18,000 podcasts and radio shows.
The company claims to be the mobile leader in on-demand news, entertainment, sports and talk radio, featuring favourites from BBC, NPR, TedTalks, CNN, Freakonomics and many more in its colourful tiled design.
Up until now Stitcher users have had to be connected to the internet to listen to their favourite shows, but that all changes with its latest upgrade.
A post on the company’s blog revealed: “You can now listen to your playlists anywhere with our new offline listening feature. Seamlessly access your favourite shows from our catalog of over 18,000 at work, in the gym, on the plane or anywhere else you may not have a wireless connection.”
Once you’ve selected your favourite shows, the app simply updates them in the background when a WiFi connection is available so that they’re ready for when you want to listen.
There have also been improvements made to Stitcher’s interface, which now features a sidebar that drags in from the corner of the screen.
The Stitcher blog adds: “Instead of requiring you to tap back four times in order to navigate to a different section of Stitcher, now you can swipe right from the left edge to access Stitcher’s main menu.”
The company also claims to have improved the user experience by fixing crash bugs and enhancing the app’s memory management and usability.
