Like the OtterBox Commuter Series Case for LG G Flex, the Defender Series case contours in the same smooth curve as the phone to match the shape and the case fits the phone perfectly. The inner layer of the Defender Series case is a strong polycarbonate hard shell in two pieces. It's easy to assemble and take apart, and it provides strong protection for the phone's structure in case you drop the phone or bump it with force. The inner shell also has a plastic screen cover that shields the display from dust, smudges and fingerprints. The outer layer is made with synthetic rubber that holds its shape well and latches into grooves on the hard shell. Both layers fit the phone's unusual shape very well and they protect the phone's large body from scratches, nicks as well as drops and bumps.
One thing that the OtterBox Defender Series Case for LG G Flex has that the Commuter Series Case doesn't is the front cover that doubles as belt-clip holster. The holster is made with strong yet thin plastic that curves along the display and covers the front entirely. The holster doesn't add too much bulk to the phone but it's rigid and sturdy. It holds onto the rest of the case in four corners and has a strong belt-clip that can hold the weight of the phone plus the case and can rotate 360 degrees. You can clip the large phone onto your belt, your bag or shoulder straps of your backpack and the holster will keep the phone covered entirely and securely. The additional protection over the front display also adds some weight to the Defender Series case as it weights 5.6 ounces.
As with the Commuter Series, the OtterBox Defender Series Case for LG G Flex has three color options. The black one has black hard shell and black outer cover, the Glacier offers white hard shell and grey rubber cover, and the Papaya version has white shell and peony pink outer cover.

Similar to the Commuter Series, the OtterBox Defender Series Case for LG G Flex isn't waterproof but offers great protection against dust and debris. The case covers the 3.5mm audio jack, the micro USB charging/syncing port at the bottom and has a grill over the rear speaker. You have easy access to the back controls and the camera cluster as the case offers a perfect opening. The case also has perfect cutouts for the front camera, sensors, earpiece as well as mics around the device. It's worth to note that the plastic cover over the display is very responsive and you should have no problem using the touchscreen when the phone is under the protection of the case.
Conclusion
A bit bulkier and weightier than the Commuter Series, the OtterBox Defender Series Case for LG G Flex offers even stronger protection for the entire smartphone. The Defender case is easy to use and it not only has a thin plastic cover over the screen but also a strong plastic hard shell as holster. The case offers dust and link protection by covering the ports and easy access to all controls and cameras via perfect cutouts. The case comes in three color combos and the belt-clip is very convenience for those who need to clip their large phone to their belts and bags.
