Gamebase to Introduce Reach3dx Game Engine at GDC 2014

Raleigh, North Carolina – Gamebase announced today that it will showcase Reach3dx at Game Developers Conference 2014. Gamebase will be in booth 424 at the GDC Expo, which will be held from March 17 to 21, 2014 in San Francisco.
Reach3dx is a new, full-featured 3D game engine which provides cross-platform support for iOS, Android, HTML5, and Flash. Based on the OpenFL framework and Haxe, Reach3dx facilitates a creative environment highly familiar to the existing development community. Reach3dx presents a new solution to reliable HTML5 web support, high performance and native user experience on mobile.
“There are two main goals of Reach3dx. The first is to provide cross-platform rendering that is flexible and high quality. The second is to decrease development times so users can get to the market faster on the ever changing mobile platforms.” said Paul Welch, Senior Lead Engineer on Reach3dx. “With Reach3dx, developers have a simplistic and efficient game creation environment. I’m very excited to see what people will create with it in the near future.”
Along with efficiency and speed, Reach3dx is based on the popular modular architecture of past Gamebase engines. This architecture allows teams to easily modify, extend and re-factor the solution to meet unique needs of their creative vision. This flexibility distinguishes Reach3dx from engine solutions built around a specific genre. For more information, please visit Gamebryo online.

Vizio introduce Android based wireless speaker system

Vizio_smart_portable_wireless_speakers

What better way to separate yourself from the crowd than by designing a wireless speaker system that runs Android apps via an LCD built-in touchscreen. Amidst the many speaker systems already on the market, the desperate calls of those craving something new appear to have, at last, been answered.

The system runs Android KitKat 4.4 and users will have access to lots of the popular apps whether it’s music, video or gaming. The innovative design means Netflix users can watch their favourite shows on a high quality wireless speaker system, as if there weren’t enough ways to watch TV shows right now.

The brand new system, known for now as ‘Vizio’s Portable Smart Audio device’, comes in two variations. If you want something a little smaller then you may opt for the more compact size available, which features a 4.7” screen. For those that want to hark back to the good old days of the boom box era, there is a larger model with a 7” screen and a built-in carrying handle.

Both speakers are powered by a quad-core processor and feature built-in Wi-Fi allowing users to stream directly from the web. There’s also a Bluetooth option if you want to use your mobile device.

Both models offer an integral lithium-ion rechargeable battery for true portability and have received positive reviews this week as they were announced at CES 2014 in Vegas.

It remains to be seen just how successful these standalone devices will be on the market, but the fact that Vizio is thinking outside the box speaks volumes as to the future of all portable audio system design.
