The Lowdown: TiVo will soon be releasing a free iPad app that allows users with the newest Premiere boxes the ability to control TiVo boxes anywhere. With the TiVo app, you will be able to:
- Start watching a show with the flick of a finger
- View guides, schedule and manage recordings
- Get recommendations and search an actor's resume
- Post comments and share what you're watching on Twitter and Facebook
- Manage Season Pass recordings and the To-Do List
My Verdict: TiVo joins the list content providers/aggregators allowing users to manage, view, and control television content using mobile devices. Methinks this is in response to those looking to ditch their cable/satellite providers altogether in favor of internet-only programming. With cable/satellite programmers deploying new technologies and interacting with our beloved mobile devices to add an additional layer of usefulness, they just might stifle the "mass exodus" before it even gets started.
